Magneto #1 was a solid start to the Master of Magnetism's first solo series, but only a start. Luckily, the second issue kicks things up a notch or two. Having established the core premise (basically, Magneto as the mutant equivalent of the Punisher), Cullen Bunn is able to delve a little deeper into Magneto's mindset and motivations as he hunts down the source of issue #1's Sentinel attack. If there are any worries about whether Bunn has a good handle on his main character, issue #2 should allay them. This is a Magneto both haunted by demons and driven by a new mission. He's simultaneously at his weakest and more dangerous and unpredictable than ever. And that's certainly a compelling dynamic to explore.
