As mentioned here in my Dexter endgame video chat with IGN TV Executive Editor Eric Goldman, the fact that Showtime refused to post the final three episodes to their online screening room (for critics) gave me hope that huge, world-shattering things would happen. The screening room has existed since the beginning of Season 6 and the first episode they actively chose not to post there was "Get Gellar" - the one with the Olmos twist. Then it was the Season 6 and 7 finales, which both had big endings. So not uploading all three of these final installments meant that shocking things could happen.
