Having previously collaborated on Parks and Recreation, Michael Schur (Parks’ co-creator) and Dan Goor (a writer for Parks) have teamed up again for Brooklyn Nine-Nine. The new FOX comedy, debuting Tuesday, September 17th, stars SNL’s Andy Samberg as an offbeat police detective with a tough new captain, played by Andre Braugher (Last Resort, Homicide). A workplace comedy like Parks and another show on Schur's resume, The Office, but with a police precinct setting, Brooklyn Nine-Nine ensemble also includes Melissa Fumero, Terry Crews, Stephanie Beatriz, Chelsea Peretti and Joe Lo Truglio.
I spoke to Schur and Goor about bringing back the cop comedy with a modern sensibility and pairing up the unlikely duo of Samberg and Braugher.
