Warning: Full spoilers for the episode follow...
While still lacking the bite of previous seasons, "Resignation" managed to throw a little polish on Boardwalk Empire's Season 4 by offering up an intriguing new character (villain?) in the form of Dr. Valentin Narcisse (Jeffrey Wright) and revealing an all-new J. Edgar Hoover-concieved plot to take down Nucky.
I suppose the whole "taking down Nucky" story is old hat by now, and the involvement of Hoover in the affairs of bootlegging seems a bit presumptuous, but the surprise of ("hayseed of the purist variety") Agent Knox being a Bureau agent was a nice twist. Especially since we already know that he projects a dopey demeanor in order to disguise his duplicitous nature. So while Hoover might want to weed out corruption and take down Nucky, it's possible that Knox may have another agenda. We shall see.
