To little surprise, today Apple officially unveiled the long-rumored iPhone 5C. The new variant utilizes different hardware materials and last-generation internals to add a relatively affordable smartphone alternative to its product line, while still keeping the device compatible with the company's many services and features, including iOS 7.
The first major offshoot of the iPhone brand features a hard-coated polycarbonate rear casing that will be available in a number of different colors at launch. Unlike Motorola's Moto X, it doesn't look like customers will have the opportunity to completely customize the outward appearance of the iPhone 5C, but the option to pick up the device in more than just a few different colors — green, white, blue, pink, and yellow, specifically — is a nice touch, nonetheless.
