When I think about playing as a Viking, standing back while my brothers die in combat isn't exactly what comes to mind.
Vikings seems built for small, focused battles. When an opponent swings from the right, you’ve got to parry to the left. Combat becomes a complex dance, with each warrior reacting to the other’s tells – like a fighting game. But that complexity only works in the one-on-one tutorial fight. In real matches, combat devolves into a medieval mosh pit. Warriors crowd together, swing wildly, and dash around like fools. There are simply too many people on a given map to properly use the limited and precise attacks we’re given, which makes the characters feel like they were yanked from a different game.
