Facepunch Games is exploring the idea of implementing an internet-based item editor, says studio head Garry Newman.
"We want to get it in a position where anyone on the team can edit items," Newman explains in the latest Rust update. "Then we want to open it up to the public – like TF2 did with hats."
Items submitted by gamers will not automatically appear in-game; contributions will be voted on by other players, as well as moderated by the Rust team.
"That’s our dream anyway," Newman continues. "It’s getting the items in game that’s a bit more involved...
once we’ve laid the foundations we’ll be able to add new items like it’s nothing."
