Nintendo Reiterates Commitment to Creating Consoles

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has explained the company has no plans to abandon the console business, and will continue focusing on a policy of first-party software creation.


In a letter to shareholders and investors, Iwata explains that Nintendo remains committed to entertainment and developing products that appear to a wide spectrum of potential gamers, but will also attempt to diversify in future.


"As the business environment around us has shifted with the times, we have decided to redefine entertainment as something that improves people's quality of life ('QOL') in enjoyable ways and expand our business areas," he writes. "What Nintendo will try to achieve in the next 10 years is a platform business that improves people's QOL in enjoyable ways.
