As business models evolve on PC, with successes like Minecraft, DayZ, and Rust earning millions of sales before they're even complete games, Microsoft is seeing Early Access as "ripe for innovation on Xbox One," according to Microsoft Game Studios' Phil Spencer.
Rust, Minecraft, and DayZ, and others have Microsoft acutely aware of the evolving interests of players. The marriage of developer process and gamer interest is something Spencer sees value in, but it isn't necessarily in the cards for Xbox One. "It’s not something we’ve talked about or have a firm plan for today," Spencer said during a fireside chat at the Game Developers Conference. "But...it is a great opportunity for us."
