Sons of Anarchy: “You Are My Sunshine” Review

Note: Full spoilers for Sons of Anarchy follow.


This week’s episode, “You Are My Sunshine” was tasked with bridging the gap between the huge twist last week when Clay and Gaalan were eliminated from the gun running equation, and getting us to the season finale next week. A new conflict was introduced, brought about by the impending withdrawal of the Sons from the gun business, something that might put Jax and Nero on opposite sides.


After the events of last episode, it was perhaps unavoidable that this week’s Sons of Anarchy felt like it spent a good amount of time regrouping, particularly in the first half of the episode. Sons of Anarchy is a complicated show with a lot of moving pieces. All the episodes this season have been super-sized and most of the time the storytelling benefits from the extra time, giving the storylines a chance to unfold in all their intricate glory. This week was the first time that they might have been better off with a standard running time, spending less time on setting things up and more time just getting on with it.
