Low-budget horror films gave Hollywood the biggest return on their investments in 2013.
According to TheWrap, Insidious Chapter 2 gave investors the biggest bang for their buck with a 31.1% return on their investment. The film's budget was $5 million and earned $160.4 million worldwide.
Universal's The Purge had the second best ROI (return on investment) with a worldwide gross of $89.3 million on a $3 million budget. In third place was The Conjuring, a $20 million horror film that had a global cume of $316.7 million.
Both Insidious Chapter 2 and The Conjuring were directed by James Wan.
