Armor Hunters: Bloodshot #1 Review

Bloodshot's involvement has been fleeting thus far in Armor Hunters run, the white skinned assassin more prop than asset. While Armor Hunters: Bloodshot #1 doesn't quite set him loose, it at least allows him to get his nano-blood pumping.


Set concurrent to the events happening in the pages of Armor Hunters and Unity (and set before he's given a shirt), the latest tie-in serves to fill in the blanks involving Bloodshot's initial recruitment. Said backstory proves interesting yet ultimately unnecessary, serving only to showcase the characters skills and abilities. The real fun picks up when the M.E.R.O. base is attacked by the alien Hunters, Bloodshot using his superior hardware and tactical knowledge to essentially take over as active in command. Though much of the issue simply serves to flesh out events we've already seen, writer Joe Harris does enough in his setup to make the idea of the series an appealing one. His Bloodshot is a bit more flippant than his usual portrayal but is no less effective, the writer finding a solid balance between the programmed killer and the more empathetic man within.
