Was there ever any doubt they’d stick the landing? From the first issue, Locke and Key seized you with its riveting horror, lifelike characters, and maddeningly magical keys. Now, after six volumes of terrifying thrills, shadow monsters, and even a Calvin and Hobbes tribute issue, creators Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez have finally given us the bittersweet release of a series finale. I’m not going to declare that Locke and Key is the greatest comic ever made, but I’ve read Watchmen, Y: The Last Man, The Sandman, and Batman: The Dark Knight Returns and I can say that with this masterful final issue, Locke and Key certainly earns the right to throw its hat in the ring whenever the discussion comes up.
