Several designers from Epic Games recently held a live stream to give a real-time look at concept art for the upcoming Unreal Tournament.
Along with Community Manager Stacey Conley, Senior Designer Jim Brown, and Environmental Artist Josh Marlow, Art Director Chris Perna sat down to discuss the recent concept art he had created to help illustrate his vision for the visual design of Unreal Tournament.
Calling it a "working concept art," Perna explains that the demo was put together out of his tinkering with the engine and new ideas for the game's aesthetic. It's a white, sterile-feeling environment with what he describes as an "industrial feel."
"The overall look is clean," he says of the environment's design, stressing that it isn't necessarily the look for the entire game, but rather an experiment and an indicator of what he wants it to look like.
