Spoilers for Star Wars Rebels to follow.
Executive Producers Dave Filoni and Simon Kinsberg brought a few clips of their new series Star Wars Rebels to Comic Con, along with the voice talent behind the show's titular heroes. And while the group was tight lipped when it came to specifics, the enthusiastic crowd still managed to come away with a few tantalizing hints of what's to come, beyond the general overview.
As most fans know by now, Star Wars Rebels will take place five years before Star Wars: A New Hope, and focus on the origins of the rebel alliance. Freddie Prinze, Jr. plays Kanan, who has had to keep his Jedi status a secret since Order 66 went into effect. When he encounters force-sensitive teen Ezra (Taylor Gray) he feels compelled to take him under his wing. Kanan's partner in rebellion is a Twi'lek pilot voiced by Vanessa Marshall. The crew is rounded out by Mandalorian demolitions expert Sabine(Tiya Sircar), and Zeb, a surly and burly alien based on the original Ralph McQuarrie concept art for Chewbacca. They are sometimes assisted by their temperamental astromech droid Chopper, who Filoni likened to a cat as opposed to the more dog-like R2-D2.
