When Murasaki Baby was first introduced back in the summer of 2013, Vita owners hungry for new content were generally excited to see something so different announced for Sony’s struggling handheld. Yet, after the reveal, things went somewhat quiet as brand-new Sony-affiliated studio Ovosonico went to work finishing the game.
Fast-forward nearly a year: we’re on the precipice of Murasaki Baby’s launch, and having played a 20-minute demo representative of the final product, I can say that the wait just may have been worth it. You’re not going to find something easily digestible – or even all that recognizable – in Murasaki Baby, or at least that’s the feeling the portion I played left me with. But you are going to find something that’s novel, even if it’s touch-centric control scheme might not necessarily be the most desirable solution.
