Does Batman's Zero Year End on a High Note?

Storytellers Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo have been taking fans on a journey of the Dark Knight’s formative years since June of 2013. Fans were naturally concerned with how Zero Year would affect the origins of such a beloved character, but throughout the last year the creative team has produced incredible issues leaving us all thirsty for more. Fortunately, the same can be said of the finale, and while this conclusion may not be as explosive as some fans might have hoped, issue #33 delivers an extremely personal tale and packs plenty of emotional punches along the way.


The final act of Zero Year has revolved around a battle of wits between Batman and Riddler. In arguably Riddler’s biggest scheme in the history of the character, Batman faced challenges unlike ones he’s ever faced before: A broken city, self doubt, and challenges to the essential functions of Batman himself. In that final challenge is where the true purpose of Zero Year lays, but they all add up to who Batman now is in the New 52.
