Disney announced today that Thor: The Dark World has passed $600 million at the global box office. This makes Marvel's latest superhero sequel Disney's third feature in 2013 to hit that milestone (Iron Man 3 and Pixar's Monsters University being the other two).
The movie has also surpassed a few of its Marvel predecessors, most notably the original Iron Man, which earned $585 million worldwide in 2008. (To be fair, though, Iron Man was never released in 3D or IMAX.) Last month, Thor 2 also beat out the first Thor ($449 million), as well as Captain America: The First Avenger ($371 million).
The Chris Hemsworth-starrer was integral in breaking Disney's previous annual box office record of $3.791 billion (set in 2010) earlier this November. Thor: The Dark World currently stands at a little over $188 million domestically.
