Warning: Full spoilers for the episode follow…
Leave it to Person of Interest to come back from its epic November HR trilogy with a cliffhanger that won't be answered until January. Gah!
And while there were parts of "Lethe" (named after the mythological river that dead souls drink from in order to forget) that I wasn't overly crazy about, it still packed quite a punch, pulling out a ton of stops in the second half - as POI episodes often do. And while Vigilance wound up playing a Red Herring role here, it was all in service of the final reveal of Camryn Manheim as "Control."
Now, I have to say. I called the "wife" being in on it. Not bragging, as this show often throws me for a loop, but I just didn't see any closure for her character other than a swerve. She wanted desperately to get her husband back - or at least "the man she once knew" - for a few minutes and it was clear that that just wasn't going to happen. So something else had to give. The one place I was wrong though was in predicting she was "Control." I didn't see that coming. I thought she'd be revealed as the top-top boss in Vigilance. Either way, the episode ended with Finch, Shaw, and Arthur all being held at gun point with their only back up thousands of miles away in Colorado duking it out behind a bar.
