Justice League 3000 #1 Review

Justice League 3000 has been surrounded by an air of mystery since its first announcement. Just who are these heroes who look like the classic Justice League after an Injustice makeover? I won’t tell you because finding out is where all the fun is with this issue, but I will say that I enjoyed it quite a bit and it leaves me excited to see where writers Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis are going to take it. What I like most about this series is that, unlike the other Justice League titles, it’s not tied to any other books -- knock on wood -- so anyone with a basic knowledge of DC comics can jump right in and start having a good time.


I must say that I am a huge fan of the Justice League costume redesigns by Howard Porter. Yes, Kevin Maguire’s early departure from the book is unfortunate, denying us a true Justice League International reunion, but don’t let that take away from the amazing job Porter did on this debut issue. The big double-page spread is a thing of beauty with the heroes popping out against a mass of enemies. Well, it’s beautiful except for Wonder Woman’s eyes. What’s going on there? Her facial construction is the only nitpick I have for the whole issue -- it just never seems to look quite right. Aside from that, this is a great looking book that your eyes can sink their little eye-teeth into.
