DOA Dev Caps Microtransaction Spending by Kids

Tecmo Koei is introducing a limit to the amount of money that Japanese youths will be able to spend on microtransactions in its games.


Siliconera reports that developer behind titles like Dynasty Warriors and Dead or Alive decided to implement the measure following a string of cases where people have gotten carried away spending obscene amounts of cash on online and social games.


In a bid to reassure Japanese parents that their kids won't be able to rack up huge bills, children under 15 in the country will only be able to spend up to 5,000 yen a month, which equates to $50 / £30. Children between 16 and 19 meanwhile will be able to spend up to 20,000 yen a month, which is $200 / £120.
