After the thriller pace and tight focus of last week’s “Maria of the Desert”, The Bridge eases back on the throttle a bit as almost everyone is off doing their own thing. For some folks that means following leads, for others it’s making long-distance booty calls and for Fausto Galvan it means having a quiet, thoughtful discussion and following it up with brutal violence. The opening with Galvan and his lieutenant set the tone: their conversation about the subtle differences between being in the cartel versus being a serial killer was awfully funny… until they headed into the other room. Writer Esta Spalding and director Gwyneth Horder-Payton were able to keep things similarly nimble throughout the hour.
