Gamescom: Beyond: Two Souls' Co-Op Shown, Playable On Touch Devices

David Cage took to the stage at Gamescom to deliver a final push for Beyond: Two Souls ahead of its October launch and made two new feature announcements in the process. Following a low-key discussion of Beyond’s use of Hollywood talent, Cage highlighted the branching paths of Beyond’s narrative before delivering news of the two new game play features that are aimed at enhancing the title’s inclusivity.


The first of these reveals is that Beyond will feature co-op play. Having witnessed it in action it seems like so natural a fit for the title that it’s a wonder that the cat hasn’t been let out of the bag sooner. Cage began by talking about how the feedback he received for both Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy in the US) and Heavy Rain suggested that a lot of players ventured through those titles with someone sat alongside them. Cage painted the scene of one person controlling the on screen action while another, be it a partner, friend or family member, offered advice on what to do next. Quantic Dream has decided to take this to its logical next step by offering that second participant the chance to join in the action in a more hands-on way.
