Warning: Full spoilers for the episode follow...
Here's a simple rule for a high-concept show like Under the Dome. When your show's characters are trapped inside a mysterious invisible dome, the notion of "weirdness" cannot and should not be used as an excuse for people to either A: not do something, or B: not believe something.
For example, this episode, "The Fourth Hand," opened with Julia and Barbie trekking through the woods to find the mini-dome with the egg in it. A concept that Barbie, for whatever reason, couldn't wrap his head around - almost not believing Julia in the process. "You gotta admit, it's kinda out there."
More "out there" than say watching a cow get sliced in half right in front of you by a falling force field? More strange than being sealed off from the entire world by a dome that can deflect nuclear missiles? What say you, Barbie? Ready to believe in the tiny, non-cow slicing dome in the woods?
