Yesterday we heard a rumor that Ian McDiarmid might be returning to the role of Emperor Palpatine in Star Wars: Episode VII, and now more possible details have emerged regarding the Sith Lord. Of course, while the following report appears to come from inside sources, it has not been confirmed and must be considered rumor for now.
Latino Review's insider seems to have the answer to how Palpatine could come back, despite having been thrown quite a ways down the reactor shaft of the Death Star at the end of Return of the Jedi (and screaming like a little girl all the way down, I might add): The site says the old bird will return not as a clone as he's done in the books and comics, but as a Force Ghost just like Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Anakin (new and old versions) before him. But that's not all. According to LR, Palpatine had a new Sith apprentice in the works before he bought the (moisture) farm in Episode VI. So presumably this person will be one of the new villains of the film, if not the villain of the film, working with Ghost Palpatine.
