Anyone that's been keeping an eye on Dead Rising 3 knows that it packs a wide array of combo weapons for players to discover. Today at Microsoft's pre-Gamescom Xbox Showcase, we found out that the crafting system most definitely doesn't stop there. Dead Rising 3 also allows you to pimp your ride.
Why mow down zombies with a boring old motorcycle, Lambourghini or bulldozer, after all, when you could spice it up a little? Combo vehicles work in much the same way as combo weapons – find a blueprint that lets you mash two things together to make them even better.
Take the RollerHawg, for instance. This is what happens when you grab a motorcycle and a steam roller and put 'em together. In short, it's a rolling wheel of motorcycle-powered death with spikes and twin flamethrowers. If you saw yesterday's bad-ass CG trailer (above) then you've already got a fair idea what this vehicle is about – turning crowds of zombies into a fine red mist – and that's exactly what it's like when you're behind the wheel. I was pointing it straight at the thickest knot of zombies in sight and sluicing through them. Any stragglers? A few blasts from the flamethrowers sorted them out.
