In the second episode of Low Winter Sun, the plot thickens as that Internal Affairs troublemaker Simon Boyd continues to pick away at the mysterious death of crooked cop Brendan McCann while Agnew and Geddes start to see the cover-up of their involvement start to fall apart. “The Goat Rodeo” has a lot of the same problems as the pilot episode, but it does show some pretty significant improvements as well.
For one thing, we get the character motivation for Agnew that should’ve been present in the pilot. While we don’t know the full extent of his relationship with the woman McCann may-or-may not have killed, this episode paints a clear enough picture that we’re able to fill in the gaps for ourselves until the show peels the layers back.
