The studio giveth, and the studio taketh away. You may have heard the little news item that broke last night about Ben Affleck being cast as Batman in Warner Bros.' Batman Vs. Superman, but now it seems that Affleck won't be directing The Stand for the studio as had previously been planned.
Deadline reports that Scott Cooper (Crazy Heart) has come onboard to re-write and direct the Stephen King adaptation in Affleck's place. Affleck first became attached to the project back in 2011.
