1st time in water since 1986

I finally made it to the lake, its been like 12-13 years of working on the boat , then having to stop because of house,wife,kids, but finally made it and was able to get my dad behind the wheel , hes 70 yrs old and I know he had fun, other than the motor only wanting to run good above 2,400 rpms which sucked but once it got there it hauled ass! but no bottom end at all, almost couldn't even start it while v-drive was engaged and it wouldn't idle, long story short 1 trip to the lake and I have the motor back out and bought a smaller cam (lunati voodoo #10110701 duration @ .050 213/219 and valve lift .515/.530 I know this is way smaller than whats in there , but I'm using this for pulling skiers and tubes so I thought this would be good,,,anybody ever use this ???) I took the heads off the motor and had the shop check them out and apparently my valve springs are weak for the cam that's in it, only 90lbs on the seat abd they are suppose to be 125lbs, I ordered the lunati kit with springs , retainers , but not sure if that would cause it to not want to idle, also all the plugs look lean and I have the stock jetting and I was finding fuel in the vacuum ports on the carb base plate, maybe because the cam has a fairt amount of duration? not sure but anyways heres some pics,,,,,
