The Bungie Podcast has returned, and in its September 2013 episode, the development team of Destiny discusses the science and significance of weapon design in their upcoming online shooter.
In Halo, art lead Tom Doyle explained, the goal with weapons was for players to say, “I know what it is before I even use it.” He continued, “You want those things to be intrinsic for the player. In the previous game we had the Good Guy Guns and the Bad Guy Guns, and there’s a certain amount of that in this game, but we’re trying to tell a much larger story in a much richer fiction. And the weapons are the first thing you see.”
