During an earnings call today, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot stated that next-gen console pre-orders, according to some retailers, "two times what they saw at the last generation launch. At the moment they are really getting more pre-orders than what they saw before.”
Best Buy and GameStop recently sold out their pre-orders, while Amazon claimed a massive increase in pre-purchases following E3 2013.
In discussing next-gen console sales expectations, Ubisoft also detailed the lack of parity between its Wii U software sales compared to other platforms. Its Wii U titles for the past three months account for just 3% of the company's total sales. Its most recent release, it should be noted, was Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth on December 4, 2012. Guillemot recently said that Zombi U -- arguably Ubisoft's biggest Wii U title -- was not profitable, and that a sequel was not in the cards.
