I want to like where this story is going, but I am still confused about Jean Grey’s character motivation. She seems to have become a power hungry villain on par with classic Magneto, yet we’ve never been clued in to exactly how and why this happened. Brian Wood has done a great deal to setup World War X, and now he begins to quickly ramp up tensions with a crippling attack on Utopia. Crazy-Jean aside, this story is every bit as smart and tense as you’d expect from a writer like Wood.
