I've complained in the past about events and crossovers that seem to lose interest in exploring their own conflicts towards the end, instead focusing on setting up the next batch of stories down the road. What was most troubling about last week's Justice League #22 was that Trinity War seemed to be falling into that same trap... in it's very first issue. The heavy emphasis on The Outsider and his schemes made Trinity War feel less like the big event DC has been building towards since the start of the New 52 and more like another stepping stone on the road to Forever Evil.
Happily, that sense of restless looking ahead is downplayed in the second chapter of the crossover. Aside from the opening page, The Outsider and his plans don't really factor into the plot. Instead, Geoff Johns uses this issue to explore the fallout of Superman killing Dr. Light and the resulting tension between the two Justice Leagues. Between this shift in focus and the fact that Johns waded through most of the setup and exposition phase last week, Justice League of America #6 has a much more direct and purposeful feel to it.
