The 2013 Emmy nominations were announced early this morning, with Game of Thrones (16 noms), American Horror Story: Asylum (17 noms) and HBO's Behind the Candelabra (15 noms) leading the pack.
On the Game of Thrones front, Emilia Clarke scored herself a Supporting Actress nod, making her the first non-Peter Dinklage actor from the series to be recognized by the Emmys. Naturally, Dinklage was nominated as well - along with D.B. Weiss and David Benioff for writing the episode "The Rains of Castamere."
American Horror Story: Asylum grabbed a nomination for Outstanding Miniseries/Movie, along with individual acting noms for Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, James Cromwell and Zachary Quinto. Similarly, HBO's Behind the Candelabra was nominated in the same category, and stars Michael Douglas and Matt Damon scored nods. Al Pacino and Helen Mirren were also recognized for HBO's Phil Spector.
