My engine builder passed away last week and I just got my blocks back tonight. The 454 is good to go except he didn't get the cam bearings installed but my 440 block is bored exactly .030 over with no extra clearance at all. Apparently he waited until he was going to put the pistons in to finish hone and add the last little bit of clearance. To gain the .001 or .0015 extra for a marine block do you think a cyl. hone that goes on a drill will provide enough clearance or should I find another machine shop to finish the block that last little bit? I have to put cam bearings in the 440 as well but I was thinking I'd tackle those myself since I have more than one to do.
