loud lifter help

I have a fresh 468 motor.on the first engine break in it had a loud lifter.roller cam.did a valve adj 3 times.still hasn't gone away.i just pulled the intake lifters look good push rods look good rockers look good.but I see a valve spring retainer that dosent look to be seated.could this be the prob.if so how do I seat it .do I have to pull the head.???

Which 115?

Hi folks. I’ve been looking around online at outboard motors classified ads and auctions and I was hoping for a bit of advice on which of two manufacturers to go with. I’m currently undecided between a Suzuki or Yamaha 115 4 stroke. Is there much in it between these two manufacturers and models? Pros and cons of each? Or is it very much a case of personal preference? I know Yamaha have got a great reputation for reliability, but that is not to say that Suzuki hasn’t, right? If it were you, which of the two would you pick and why? Looking forward to reading your feedback folks.

Looking for down pedal w/lockout handle

I'm looking for a down pedal (or up/down) with a locking handle feature. Trimetric, Caselli, etc. Want one that is not totally worn out. MUST have lockout handle, since it's for a cruising flat. Post up what ya have on this thread or PM me. Thanks, JOCKO

Gaffrig gauges I pulled out of my boat to put larger ones in. They functioned just fine when I removed them which is why I saved them. Just cleaning out the garage. All the bezels, brackets, nuts and lock washers are included. The only thing missing is the bracket for the RPM gauge. They are easy to get or even make

Eng. Parts Chevy BBC 840 closed chamber heads 2.25/1.88 valves, dated 1969 Semi Fresh build

pair of heads on a 454 bbc Engine i have.. they are 840 GM rectangle port Closed chamber heads.. . the heads are in good shape but do need a couple heli-coils on the Intake manifold side of Head .. they were on a running engine... date coded jan&feb of 1969 and have the Large 1.88 exhaust valves .. the intake i measured and look to be 2.25 but a chance they could be stock 2.19 size.. .. they are set up for a Hyd Roller cam around 600 lift.. titanium retainers complete, no rockers though.. will need about 2-3 Heli-coils on the intake side .. asking 900 obo. these were the High comp version of the 990 heads.. in great shape.. fix intake threads and bolt on and go.. dropping compression from 11 1/4 to 10to1 is only reason for removing.. 900 obo or trade for Oval port aluminum heads plus cash my end??? 530-333-1047 Bill located near Sacramento Ca.

19' Gullwing setup question

Hey guys... Will the extra weight (115 lbs I think) of a Bowtie block cause any performance issues in a 19'? The engine has or will have aluminum heads so I'm guessing it would be close to a standard all iron 454 long block but I wanted to ask anyway. The boat will have a jet-a-way and I know a lot of gullwings run them but I'm curious if other steps have to be taken to overcome the weight being moved forward or if it actually helps the overall performance. Assume the bottom of the boat is straight/flat.

TRS Outdrive Wanted or Conection

I am in dire need of a TRS Outdrive new or rebuilt. I understand that getting your hands on one are difficult at best and are rare so if you might have a conection that I could chase down I would be most greatfull.
